US prepares preemptive strike against North Korea before another nuclear test

This is alarming if even remotely true. Though it feels like fear mongering. Thoughts?

The US Navy nuclear-powered USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier and its strike group approached the Korean Peninsula in anticipation of a possible new nuclear test or launch of ballistic missiles in North Korea.
According to the American private intelligence and analysis company Stratfor, the carrier group is currently located west of the Japanese island of Kyushu and is crossing the Korean Strait to the waters of the Sea of Japan toward the east coast of North Korea. There, according to Japanese media, citing sources in the country's Self-Defense Forces, Japanese warships will also join them.
In addition to the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, the carrier group includes the missile cruiser USS Lake Champlain and two destroyers, the USS Michael Murphy and the USS Wayne E. Meyer. The group is accompanied by nuclear submarines equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles as well.
According to CNN, in the event of a nuclear test, B-52, B-1B, and B-2 strategic bombers of the US Air Force, which are at the US airbase on the island of Guam in the western part of the Pacific Ocean, can also be involved in a possible strike against North Korea. In addition, ground and ship missile defense systems of the United States, Japan and South Korea can be used to intercept North Korean missiles. This includes the American ships of the USS Carl Vinson carrier group, which are equipped with the Aegis Missile Defense System. The American carrier strike group left for the Korean Peninsula on Saturday. This is in response to the increasing number of ballistic missile launches conducted by North Korea. In addition, South Korea and Japan claim that Pyongyang is preparing another provocation by April 15, the 105th anniversary of the birth of the country's founder, Kim Il Sung, or April 25, the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People's Army. This time it could be a nuclear test.
The US is ready to strike a preemptive blow against North Korea in the event that evidence is received of Pyongyang's preparations for a new nuclear test, NBC News reported on Thursday, citing sources in US intelligence.

  2. This is "international tough guy" trash-talking, much like a street fight in which one idiot tells the other idiot what's he's gonna do, the things he didn't want to know about his own mother, and how much we works out at the gym at night. While it is true that one of the tough guys carries a big knife and the other one may be packing heat, and that someone may get hurt and it may escalate, chances are the big boys up the street will show up and get the ones with the mouth to "shaddap". There is much alarm, and not without cause, but economic sense will prevail. If the US has really stacked its own political-military deck with bloodthirsty psychos, there will be covert ops happening soon. There are a lot of people carrying heat, and they're not all countries these days.

    1. Hi Ed(itor) I can't shake the feeling that North Korea is a bit of distraction, at this time, for perhaps a move on Turkey of some sort- assassination- coup- big, big bombings- something- Syria again
maybe Israel and the US together- I just see a distraction at this time- I could be wrong, of course, but that's how I see it-

The Turkish referendum is very much on the mind of US talking heads and it's not approved of at all
Even Henri Barkey wrote an oped about it- The man behind the coup, or at least one of them..

    2. Penny, you’re not wrong, but there are multiple distractions. This is a complex game with multiple players; I recommend folks find and play an old Milton Bradley game called “Shogun” or perhaps the game of “Diplomacy” with mutliple players and multiple theaters of actions, and changing allegiances, and dynamic changes. Russia is probably the player with the coolest heads, the most to lose, with China not far behind. There are minor players everywhere. Think Pakistand and India, the Iranian situation, the entire Mideast, Yemen and the battle for the sea lanes there, Africa, the South China Sea… There are chances for numerous sparks, and there are at least two or three hotheads in this game. My point about the above is that sides are simply engaged in psychological warfare; meanwhile, they are probing each other with espionage, cyber-probes, and military threats. Think about how many actions were started with a single shot from within the crowd by some frenzied part-time crazy person. WWI comes to mind. The American Revolution in Lexington on Patriot’s Weekend is rumored to have been ignited by a hidden bystander. The game is about rotating distractions. Any given set of allies will precipitae something if they think they have a decided advantage that will hold through escalation and an explosive spread into multiple theaters. Whom, BTW, will be allied with whom? What if opne of the key p[layers suddenly changes allegiances? The NORK situation is a distraction in the sense that it’s a minor scenario that can act as a spark but cannot sustain a burn. A false flag with a suddenly-changing allegiance will keep a lot of military people awake chewing Tums and drinking coffee by the gallon. .

  3. So, what's true?

"A "very powerful" US Navy armada which the Trump administration said was heading towards the Korean Peninsula to deter the North from carrying out a nuclear test was actually carrying out exercises with the Royal Australian Navy thousands of kilometres away in the Indian Ocean, the ABC has confirmed."

You posted this on Friday 14th. Two articles in Australian media today suggest otherwise. While yep, can accept 'pollie speak' saying the carrier fleet is 'en-route' to the Korean Peninsula ... there are a few thou NM between "off the coast of Australia" and where Stratfor says it is.

    1. Hi Davoh

According to the news accounts you have read the article posted above is incorrect?- And the ships aren't in or just outside of NK's territorial waters or something like that? Not breathing down their necks as the article on the 14 implied?

I'll read the links you have left, thanks Davoh
